The alpaca family of Schleich® WILD LIFE theme world originates from the Andes in South America, where the animals are mainly bred for their soft, warm wool. They belong to the humpless camels and have a very calm and peaceful character. The two alpaca foals each have a different coat color, one is white and the other is brown. They nurse from the mother for about 6-8 months before they start eating grass.

Schleich is a German company that makes toy animals and plastic dolls. It was founded in 1935 by Friedrich Schleich. In the fifties he had started developing the Smurfs, Snoopy, The Muppet Show and many other characters. In the 1980s, Schleich began developing animal figures, such as farm animals, wild animals and dinosaurs.
